CENTURION AUCTIONS: EDGED WEAPONS & MILITARIA: JAN 27th

In addition to their upcoming 2-day sale Centurion auctions are holding a fine militaria sale at the end of the month. Top lots in the scale include the Japanese sword pictured. Carrying an estimate of $10-15000 this 14^th C. Nanbokucho period example is by Tokubetsu Hozon Token of the Tegai School.

The sale includes may American military and custom fighting knives including a scarce WWII M.H. Cole 9-point knuckle fighting knife. Only 50-75 examples of the Cole 9-point knuckles are known. Among the other examples offered are an Al Mar and William Harsey collaboration Shiva fighter knife, 1 of 40 made, and a WWII US Warther made fighting knife. Named to Lt. L. E. Casner on one grip, with his service number 0-1183484 on the other. Also in the sale, are rare swords, dress daggers and bayonets. Click on the image for a link to the catalog.

MORPHY'S 3-DAY SALE: ANTIQUE AND COLLECTOR ARMS: Dec 16-18th

Among the lots offered in Morphy’s upcoming sale is the exceedingly rare American silver hilted sword Joseph Bailey pictured. Only a handful of swords by Bailey are known, one being the example carried by George Washington.

Other antique arms lots on the second day of the sale include a 4^th Virginia Jon Miles flintlock pistol C. 1801, a 1779 S-type Brown Bess, British officers war silver mounted flintlock pistols, a selection of Americana long rifles and pistols and Viking era sword. Day one of the sale includes a fine selection of sporting arms. Among these lots is a four-gun set of Kreighoff Essencias and two Rizzini matched pairs. Rare military collectibles include a pre-war Japanese type 5 Garand, amd a Gustoff Werke Volkssturmngewehr VG1-5 semi-automatic rifle. Collectors of Western arms will like the Ulrich Engraved Winchester model 18966 or the New Haven Arms 1860 Henry presentation engraved, or the RAC inspected Colt cavalry single action dated 1890.

Day three of the sale includes edged weapons. Militaria and moderately estimated guns.

CZERNYS FINE ARMS & ARMOUR: 2 DAY SALE: Dec11-12th

Day one of Czerny’s upcoming tow day sale includes a comprehensive selection or rare and early Austrian military arms including the double barreled over and under flintlock M1795 rifle pictured.

Other rare military arms in the sale include a Crespi breechloading carbine, a rare 1759/81 musketoon with oval muzzle and a model very rare 1759 Jaegerstutzen rifle. Other rare lots on the first day include an Italian model 1864 cavalry saber incorporating a 9mm Brevete revolver and a Girandoni model 1779 military air rifle. Day one also includes a wide selection of fine Italian and French military edged weapons as well as a pickelhaube collection.

The second day of the sale includes ancient arms with a black and white eastern European half armour etched with the virgin Mary C. 1630 carrying the highest estimate (22-26000 EU). Also offered are many very decorative lots such as the half armor in Pisan style, the Nuremberg Zischagge in ottoman style C 1530, the rare lever action Carbine by Venditti or Carluccio, or the beautifully craved tachi blade signed Hizen no kuni Dewa no kami Yuki Hero. These are just some of the 419 lots offered on day two in a range of prose estimates.
