SCHULER AUKTION SWITZERLAND: ARMS, ARMOUR & ANTIQUES: Dec 13th

Schuler’s Auction House in Switzerland are holding  a sale December 13th with a wide selection of early weapons and militaria in addition to antiques.  Pictured is a fabulous Bavarian arquebus with the Kurpfalz coat of arms C. 1720 one of the top lots in the sale. Other guns in the sale include a fine French flintlock fowler, likely made for the Ottoman market and a fine and scarce flintlock jailer’s key pistol.

Among the swords offered is a dramatic north Italian two-hand broadsword C. 1480, an Italian crabclaw broadsword with scabbard C.1500, a 15th C baselard and a range of Swiss and European sabers.  Other edged weapons include a superb copy of a ceremonial saber by Hans Peter Oeri (1637 -92) and several fine shamshirs, one with silver enameled hilt and scabbard.

Other fine lots in the sale include a fine cinquedea dagger, a fine Italian powderflask C. 1580, a 13/14th C. central European helmet and a range of polearms, elements of armour as well as Japanese and Indo-Persian lots. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



SCOLLARD AUCTIONS: FINE ARMS, ARMOUR, ETHNOGRAHIC AND ASIAN: Nov 29th

Scollard auction's next sale is on Nov. 29th and features a diverse broad range of arms and armor from around the world as well as a good selection of antiquities and fossils.  Among the lots offered is the fine pair of late 18th C. Spanish miquelet pistols pictured. A fine pair of silver-mounted Balkan pistols is also in the catalog as are a pair of silver-mounted Roman-style flintlock pistols.

 Among the edged weapons is a very interesting early Scottish broadsword having an unusual broad tapering blade with a pronounced medial ridge. Other swords include a German Garde Du Corps Pallasch, a German Damascus pipe-backed artillery offices sword, an American eagle head sword with blue and gilt blade, several fine Russian shaska’s, and Kindjals, some with silver niello decoration.
Other desirable lots include a Moro mail and plate armour, several part and full European armours, polearms, including an Italian linstock and an articulated locking fist gauntlet in the 17th C style. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



ANTIKVITY PRAHA: ARMS ARMOUR AND ANTIQUES: Dec 2nd

Antikvity Praha’s sale of December 2nd  includes a fine selection of Arms and Antiques, in addition to a superb replica of an Auburn boat tail speedster. Among the fine guns offered are a highly unusual and spectacular nine-barrelled flintlock pepperbox by John Twigg,  a luxury cased double-barreled sporting gun by Bauerfield in Heidelberg extensively chiseled and engraved,  an early Saxon wheellock rifle and a rare Swedish 17th C snaphaunce hunting rifle. Among the cased pistols in the catalog are a Mass. Arms Maynard primed revolver, a pair of percussion pistols by Day London and a Gasser 1870 revolver retailed by Westley Richard London.

Swords in the sale include a very attractive chiseled iron German officer’s degen C 1640, a 19th C. Austro-Hungarian magnates sabre, a German sword of justice, an 18th C Austrian Hussars sabre, and a scare Danish-Norwegian Napoleonic saber. Other lots include an 18th C. silver mounted hunting horn, a 16th C Iron war hammer, and an early Iron cuirass, Dresden, C. 1600.

PROBUS AUCTION: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR: Nov 20th

Probus Auction, Stockholm, are holding a sale of Arms, Armour, Militaria & Decorations on Nov 20thth.  Among the fine edged weapons offered is the superb jeweled Mughal shamshir, probably Kutch. Among the other eastern and ethnographic edged weapons offered are a fine 19th C Khanjar dagger with flamboyant gold inlaid blade, a fine Parang Nabur and an early hooded Katar. European swords in the catalog include a good selection of Scandinavian military swords, an especially selection of fine Napoleonic swords and a range of continental hunting an small swords.
 
Early guns offered include Greek, Maghrib and Caucasian examples as well as several fine pairs of European flintlock and percussion pistols. Colt revolvers, among them a cased example, will cross the block as well as a range of early sporting and military guns.

AUCTIONS IMPERIAL: FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR : November 25th

One of the top lots In Auctions Imperial’s sake of November 25th is the very desirable Safavid era shamshir with the green-stained hilt. The sword is superbly chiseled with Nastaliq verse. The robust blade is wrought of superb, actively-grained Persian black wootz, and chiseled with a pair of polygonal cartouches.  Other fine swords in the sale include a rare Georgian Khmali, a Hungarian hussars officers sabre with 17th C blade and a very scarce Philippines constabulary sword C 1900.

The sale includes a Victorian full amour in the Maximillian style, a fine Indian mail amour and a fine 13th C. medieval sallet with analytic report by the Roya Armouries.
