ANTIKVITY PRAHA: ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR: JUNE 6th
Antikvity Praha will hold its Spring Auction on June 6 in Prague, featuring a strong selection of antique arms, armor, and militaria. Collectors can expect a wide range of antique firearms, swords, armor, militaria, and related historic objects.
Among the highlights offered =is a finely decorated German crossbow, complete with its original cranequin, dated in two places, 1547 and 1602. Also featured in the sale is a Persian shamshir with a Damascus blade, its hilt and scabbard richly mounted in gilt silver with jade and turquoise accents. Another notable edged weapon in the catalogue is a 16th-century Venetian short sword. Additional offerings include a Hungarian silver-mounted carabella saber dating to circa 1880 and a cased Austro-Hungarian gilt saber.
The sale also includes several important antique pistols, such as an extensively decorated Catalan miquelet pistol, likely from Ripoll in the 18th century, and a cased pair of Marseille dueling or target pistols by Imbert of Marseille. Other firearms include a cased pair of percussion pistols by Lang, a Swiss Model 1769 dragoon pistol, and an all-steel four-barreled flintlock pocket pistol.
