Scollard Auctions sale of May 6th includes the pictured fine pair of cased flintlock silver mounted pistols by Probin. They are hallmarked for 1790 by the London silversmith Charles Freeth One pistol is engraved "Angel" and the other "Tookie", likely the names given to each pistol. This is one of several pairs of cased pistols in the catalogue.
The sale also includes, both German and Japanese suits of amour, European swords, mameluke, Spanish and 17th C Dutch among them. A selection of Japanese swords is offered, as is a range of eastern and tribal swords and edged weapons including a Kalinga axe, a Moro Pira Sword, a Moro Panabas, Several Moro Kris, Indian and Afghani Pulowars and a Visayan Talibon Sword.

Probus Auction are holding a spring sale on April 22nd. The sale includes a spectacular selection of antique arms armor and Militaria. Swedish and Scandinavian arms are, of course, well represented in the sale. Among these are a fine Cavalry officer's sword dated 1711 With the arms of Charles the XII of Sweden, A Swedish horse pistol by Nussbaum Circa 1761, a scarce Swedish Jager Bayonet with Scabbard and a spectacular early 18th C. Bohemian flintlock sporting gun owned by admiral Carl Tersmeden (1715 -1797).
Early edged weapons include fine rapiers of the Pappenheimer type as well as 17th and 18th C. cavalry swords and Military hangers. Spontoons and halberds are among the early lot offered as is an attractive early 17th century knee-length cuirassier armour.
