Day one of Czerny’s upcoming March sale includes a range of highly collectible fine arms from around the world. Carrying the highest estimate of 10,000-15,000eu is a superb gold lacquered and shibayama inlaid Tanto Koshirae. A related lot is the beautiful daisho with the Katana signed Kanefusa. Yet another Japanese lot offered is the red lacquer tosei gosuko armour. The sale also includes many fine eastern arms including Ottoman, south Indian and Indo-Persian examples. A fine gold inlaid tulwar with red velvet scabbard will cross the block as will an unusual inscribed 17thC silver plated firangi. Daggers in this category include a late 19th C kanshar and and early 18th C example with jade hilt. A 19thc ottoman fluted turban helmet in the style iof 1500 is also included in the sale.
Among the eastern guns in the catalog is a large silver inlaid and inscribed North-African wall gun, a fine pair of Bohemian pistols for the oriental market and a pair of silver inlaid Turkish pistols. European arms on the first day include a flintlock over and under rifle by Spock C. 1780, and Austrian model 1744/76 cuirassier carbine and an 1843 Jaegerkarabiner with rare Augustin ignition system.
