PROBUS AUKTION: ANTIQUE ARMS & ARMOUR, ORDERS AND DECORATIONS, APRIL 19th

Probus Auction’s sale of April 20th   in Stockholm includes a good section of American revolvers as well as a fine selection of European arms and decorations from all periods. Among the American guns offered are US and Belgian Colt Navy’s, Colt Army’s, a Rogers and Spence revolver, several 1849 Colt Pockets, Whitney, Cooper and Manhattan revolvers as well as an 1861 Remington navy.

Fine early Swedish and European Arms offered include a superb Saxon puffer dated 1604 a detial of wjhich is pictured, a fine pair of Austrian flintlock carbines by Balthasar Zelner C 1720, rare examples of Swedish military swords, M1701, M1680,M1685 and M 1653, a cased pair of LePage percussion pistols, fine pairs of 18th C Liege, French, German and Italian pistols in addition to early European rapiers and amour.

Lots of Eastern interest include a fabulous 19th C kilij with damascened blade and silver mounts, a fine Turkish Miquelet rifle, an Ottoman shamshir with damascened blade and a fine 17/18th C shamshir wootz or damascus blade signed and inlaid.  Other lots offered include a Saxon cartridge box C 1580, a good shaska sword and an example of the rare Swedish Knightly order of order of Seraphim. BOSLEYS AUCTIONEERS: ARMS & ARMOUR, APRIL 20th

Bosley’s sale of April 20th   includes a good section of British martial guns as well as fine military swords and choice sporting and target cased arms.  The top lot in the sale is a rare 1815 Baker rifle converted for a socket bayonet.  Of related interest is the Baker 1813/27 rifles cavalry carbine that will also cross the block as will the rather awesome 1860 Jacobs double rifle by Swinburne. Among the edged weapons offered is a very rare WWII Lord Lovatt No 4 Commando dagger, one of only 6 known. Early swords in the sale include an 1847 presentation sword from the King of Hanover to the Duke of Beaufort.

Other lots in the sale include a Purdy cased pepperbox, a cased Adams war department marked revolver, a fine Napoleonic yeomanry officers’ sword by Deane of London, a 1788 pattern officers’ sword and a cased Lancaster percussion sporting rifle. Click on the image for a link to the sale.

 



SOFE DESIGN: ARMS, ARMOUR & ANTIQUES: MARCH 26th

Sofe Designs Auction sale of March 26th includes four very fine wheellock rifles. The chiseled and inlaid German or Austrian example pictured is dated 1685. Other fine guns in the sale include a flintlock Kentucky Rifle by Adam Nosh, a gamblers five shot ring gun, a Caucasian miquelet rifle and a European style cased Colt .31 pocket revolver.

Among the swords in the sale is a fine Russian imperial naval dirk, a fine keris with silver and gold decoration, a rare Indonesian Belida sword and a 16th C Italian falchion. Among the other lots offered are Chinese imperial armours and a good Victorian suit of armour.

CENTURION AUCTIONS: COLLECTIBLE FIREARMS AND MILITARIA

Among the lots in Centurion Auctions sale of the 10th are a pair of French model 1733 flintlock pistols by Blachon. Other early guns offered include a pair of Evan Philadelphia dueling pistols, a beautiful Spanish miquelet flintlock fowler by Antonio Guisasola and a pair of English dueling pistols by Manton.

WW2 collectible arms offered include a 1944 Inland Division M1A1 .30 cal paratrooper carbine, a Browning M 1919 cutaway model, and inert MG 34 and a German Berlin-Lubecker K43 semi-auto rifle. Other lots of interest are a Winchester model 101 shotgun with three sets of barrels and a range of civil war arms, among them a US navy flare pistols, a 5th model Burnside carbine an 1853 Tower Pattern Confederate musket. CZERNYS AUCTION, RARE AND FINE ANTUIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR: Feb 25th

Czernys sale of February 25th includes thisr are and unusual wheelock German hand Mortar C. 1620-1640 with Nuremberg stamp. The top lot in the sale is a pair of flintlock pistols with gilded bronze barrels by Daniel Thiermay C 1730 Paris having have a provenance to the Dukes of Wurttemberg. For those interested in early arms, several  German and European three quarter armors are offered as well as a full 16th C. cavalry armor. Early swords include a 12th C German sword and a European 13th C. sword with Brazil nut pommel.

Lots of Eastern interest include a fine and rare tulwar with wootz blade from the property of Emperor Jahangir (1569-1627), a good 18th C. Ottoman Kilij, a fine Spanish-Moresque style sword, several fine kandshar daggers, and a 19th C. Indian katar double pistol. British and American arms  include a cased pair of Scottish pistols by Campbell and a prototype Winchester Spanish model 1873 rifle. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



SOTHEBY'S AMERICANA INCLUDING FINE EARLY LONGRIFLES

Sotheby’s Americana sale of the 22nd includes American long rifles from the William K di Pont collection. Pictured is an exceptional Lehigh Valley rifle C 1810 attributed to John Rupp or Jacob Kuntz that carries an estimate of 40,000-60,000 USD. Other guns in the sale include an example by Martin Fry of York PA C 1790, another attributed to peter and David Moll and a fine early example C 1780 by John Philip beck of Lancaster county PA.

Also offered are a pair of percussion pistols by Kuntz Philadelphia and two fine tomahawks, one belonging to John Fraser, Lancaster county dated 1758. Click on the image for a link to the sale.



ANTIKVITY PRAHA, ARMS & ANTIQUES AUCTION DEC 11th

Antikvity Praha’s sale of arms and antiques includes a choice selection of early guns, swords and armour. Pictured is a fine early flintlock Viennese pistol by Joseph Hamerl C. 1730, gunmaker to the Bavarian and Lorraine courts. Other guns offered include a beautiful percussion combination shotgun rifle by Kuchenreuter, a 17th C. German wheellock rifle with trigger safety, a cased pair of French percussion pistols by Pirmet, a mid 19th C. Bohemian target rifle by Schab and an extensively chiseled and silver inlaid 18th C. Italian fowler.

Among the edged weapons are several smallswords including an Iron hilted example inlaid with silver, several Hungarian magnate sabres, A Swiss or German 17th C. officers dog head sabre, a Styrian broadsword C 1600 and a M1799 dragoon pallasch.  Also offered are several early war hammers. a very rare and unusual Henry Ball patent concealed anti-garrotter gun and an attractive etched cabasset in the 16th C Style. ROCK ISLAND PREMIERE FIREARMS AUCTION: 3 DAY SALE: DEC 3rd 4th & 5th

Rock island premier sale in December cover three days and includes world class collector firearms, sword and related militaria. Pictured is an historic garniture of five guns and sword presented to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1797. From the Versailles manufactory this highly embellished and gold inlaid set was first put on display in London in 1816 following the defeat at Waterloo. Other museum quality arms in the sale include a Colt no 5 Squareback model Texas Paterson revolver  and a Marlin model 1881 rifle, serial No 1.  Besides the many museum quality arms in the sale more modestly estimated guns include a French mod 1717 infantry musket, one of several guns from the Moller collection a Rare Russian contract model 1911.

Over 2200 lots will cross the block in the three day sale and the catalog includes guns and related militaria guaranteed to suit a wide range of collector interests in all price ranges.
 



SOFE DESIGN, ANTIQUE ARMS & ARMOUR: NOV 13th

Sofe Design Auction sale of the 13th includes a sword bearing the name of Tipu Sultan, the Sultan of Mysore killed but eh British at the siege of Seringapatam in 1799. There are many other fine Indian, Persian and Ottoman swords int he sale including a superb Persian shamshir with gilt niello scabbard with an the Ottoman Pala style blade and a Qajar Kanjhar dagger with enamel and gold mounts dated 1815.

Among the guns in the sale are several Ottoman toufek rifles, an Ottoman Greek pistol with brass stock, a fine 18th C Turkish blunderbuss, a Spanish percussion rifle with Catalan style stock and a heavily mislaid German wheellock hunting rifle. The sale also includes a huge English bowie from the American market by Jackson Sheffield, an unusual medieval scolds’ bridle and a rare 19th C me Mexican military General’s Sombrero. Probus Auktioneers are holding their Fall sale on Nov 15th. The sale includes a wide selection of European guns and swords as well as a variety of worldwide arms from a range of historical periods.  Among the edged weapons in the sale is the spectacular Napoleon III presentation sword pictured.  Other swords in the sale include early medieval examples as well as 17th C. rapiers and officers’ swords.  Many 18th and 19th Swedish and European military swords will cross the block, as will an important Russian naval Example.
