ANTIKVITY PRAHA, FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR, MAY 27th

Antikvity Praha are holding and auction that includes fine arms and armour on May 27th . Pictured is a deluxe single shot match-rifle by Johann Peterlongo of Innsbruck being offered. Other top longarm lots include  a wheellock rifle by Matheus Matl, a flintlock fowler by Johann Christian Gorges, an Ottoman miquelet-lock rifle, an  Italian miquelet-lock fowler a fine percussion rifle by Josef Lochner, and a Luftwaffen-Drilling M 30 by Sauer & Sohn, with its transport Case.
 
Handguns include a snap bayonet flintlock pistol by Spencer, many cased guns, among them a pinfire pepperbox revolver with removable barrel, a Webley Bentley open frame percussion revolver, a Tranter model No.2 rimfire revolver by Henry Jackson. Shrewsbury and a Webley longspur revolver 2nd model in a leather case.

Also included in the sale are a wide section of rapiers and early broadswords as well as 18th century hunting and military examples.



AUCTIONS IMPERIAL, SPRING SALE OF FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR, MAY 27TH

Auctions Imperial are holding their spring sale on May 27th .  Among the most highly valued lots is the Persian shamshir pictured, from the Qajar Dynasty with fully-modeled parrot’s head pommel it has a grip chiseled overall and an archaic style blade inlaid with the name and title of Shah Abbas I of Iran and the Qajar maker Assad Allah. Among the many other fine eastern swords in the sale are  several fine Ottoman kilij and shamshirs with scabbards, many of which are signed. European swords include a massive early German two hander, a Hungarian hussars sabre and several cuphilt rapiers.

Besides the edged weapons, the sale includes a pair of fine Greek kompoura flintlock pistols, a Moro cannon, an Ottoman tapancha pistol, a balta battle axe, a rare Caucasian flintlock pistol, and a Spanish migulet blunderbuss. Ther are many other firearm lots throughout the catalog.
 
Amour in the sale includes a Hungarian parade shield, a Hyderabad cuirass, a European close helmet, a Mughal helmet with camail, as well as a plate and mail armour coat, bajuband armguards and an English Cromwellian helmet. Click on the image for a link to the sale. 



HERMANN HISTORICA SPRING SALE, APRIL 24th to MAY 6th

Hermann Historica’s spring sale is just around the corner. The four day event features antique and modern arms, historical collectibles and antiquities. Pictured are a superb pair of single barrel two shot chiseled steel and gold inlaid cased pistols by Vincent Lebeda of Prague. Other fine and rare guns include an exquisite Purdey shotgun, a Rare Schwarzlose Mod. 1898 with original finish and a rare Bittner repeating pistol Mod. 1896.


Among the edged weapons in the sale is are an 18th C Greek silver-mounted and gilt kilij, a Russian award shaska M 1909 and a very fine chiselled French deluxe sword, circa 1600.  Armour lots offer include a  East Anatolian or Iranian chamfron, a Polish Hussar cuirass and a French A helmet M 1814/15 of the Chevau-Légers de la Garde Royale.

SAN GIORGIO ASTE ANTIQUE ARMS AND MILITARIA, May 2nd

Gracing the cover of San Giorgio Aste’s next sale is a fine pair of gold decorated cased dueling or target pistols bearing the arms of the Calzada family. Also offered in the sale is an fine and unusual set of matched pistols and rifle dated 1841 from Naples. Other guns in the sale include an exception pair of pistols by Visouard Marseille, a fine cased target pistol by Gastinne Renette dated 1855 and a rare four barreled gun by  the Liverani brother in Bologna.
 
Edged weapons n the sale include an important French Shamshir, an early medieval knightly sword, a fine cane sword with concealed pistol and a wide section of hunting daggers. The sale also includes armour, Japanese arms, American guns, powder horns and military and hunting swords.

ROCK ISLAND AUCTION, PREMIER AUCTION, MAY 4TH 5TH 6TH

Rock Islands May sale includes several guns owned by Elvis Presley. Pictured is a colt python engraved by the Friederick Wilheim Company in Germany that was featured in a 1973 edition of guns magazine. This is the first time this gun has been offered for sale privately. Other guns include and exhibition grad Winchester model 1866, cased Colt dragoons and Patersons, civil war arms and presentation sabers in addition to cased European flintlock and percussion pistols.

There are many fine sporting doubles offered as well as superb examples on WWII military arms and rare German uniform pieces.  A great selection of class III weapons is included in the catalog.



SAN GIORGIO ASTE, ANTIQUE ARMS & MILITARIA, MARCH 24TH

The star of the March sale by San Giorgio Aste is a fabulous wheelock pistol owned by Rudolf of Hapsburg, Holy Roman Emperor, 1552-1612 that has extensive provenace and documentation.

Among the other fine lots offered by San Giorgio Aste in March are select lots of Russian interest including a fine cossack pistol, an important officers sabre, and an unusual kindjal. There is also a good selection of early European armour in the sale including a scarce spider helmet, cuirassier helms and an interesting jousting helmet.  Also in the European lots are a good selection of swords fromt the early medieval period onwards. There are several very fine early daggers in the catalog.

Among the guns offered is and unusual mathlock target gun as well as several fine antique sporting examples and a usable cased matched pair by Greener circa 1880. CZERNYS FINE ARMS & ARMOUR AUCTIONS, MARCH 25TH

Czernys march sale includes several important private collections among them two collections of Indian arms.  In the first collection is a rare  Deccan pulouar and a  massive tegha sword as well as many fine tulwar hilted shamshirs, beautifully decorated firangi’s and daggers of various form with crystal and jade hilts. The second Indian collection includes many exotic forms of dagger as well as two Ayda Katti swords and a 17th C sang lance head.
 
There is a wide section of European arms among them a fine pair of cased pistols by Manton and a second cased pair by Wattel Clark. Among the long guns are matchlocks, flintlocks and early cartridge sporting guns. For armour collectors there are two fine Maximillian form helmets, one period and one 19th C. Swords from all periods are included in the sale, among them Viking, medieval and later examples both civilian and military.

WORTH AUCTIONS,, CIVIL WAR COLLECTION MARCH 12TH

Worth auctions in NY are holding a sale of Civil war arms and accoutrements on March 12th. The lots are mixed with antique lots and this is the first of several sales featuring us military arms, edged weapons and accoutrements they will be holding.

Pictured is a very desirable Colt dragoon percussion pistol. This example has traces of original case coloring and stamps to the butt that indicate martial use. Also in the sale is a selection of flintlock and percussion rifles and muskets as well as handguns dating to the 18th and 19th centuries.  Firearms of note include a Maynard carbine, Springfield’s flintlock and percussion arms, tower muskets, a Freeman revolver, Colts, a Sharps rifle and many others.
 
The sale also includes military paintings, engravings and statuary as well as powderflasks, artillery shells and camp utensils.

San Giorgio Aste’s next sale on February 23rd  has a wide ranging catalog that includes arms and amour spanning many centuries and from different cultures and historical context. . Early European amour includes a nice selection of 17th cent helmets, breastplates and polearms, in addition to medieval and gothic swords, among them a rare estoc.  Russian arms offered include a rare Cossack tunica as well as an ivory hilted shaska’s and kindjals.

The wide section of European sporting arms includes early wheeleock examples, a magnificent Italian example with Spanish barrel by Pedro Esteban, Austrian and Bohemian examples, a fresh silver mounted double barreled flintlock with waterproof pans and others. Among British and American guns offered are rare Remington Nagent Papal carbine, a rare British Roberts conversion breech loader and several pairs of pistols. LANDSHUTER R√úSTKAMMER, ANTIQUE ARMS AND MILITARIA AUCTION, FEB 24-25th

Landshuter Rüstkammer are holding a late winter 2-day sale on February 24th and 25th. The sale includes over 1600 lots from the 16th century to World War II.

European, American and eastern antique arms are included as is a large selection of  German militaria. Orders & medals are included as well as antique and collectible guns.

Three suits of armour, several helmets, including the example pictured, polearms and many swords will be crossing the block. Among the pistols is a highly decorated Mauser C96 and a special German Pistole Parabellum 1900/06 in mint condition.
Militaria items from imperial Germany, WW I and WW II, are well represented, among them, some outstanding Austrian guard helmets. An early US blue and gilt sword will be offered among the many other lots. Click onthe image for a link to the sale.
